Case studies: Double cone blenders for protein mixing

Customer Customer

The customer is a world-leading specialist in sustainable solution engineering for the nutrition and pharmaceutical sectors. The skids were implemented in a project developed in New Zealand.

Project Project

The end customer needed to blend large amounts of raw materials to produce a dietary supplement with WPC, whey protein concentrate. The blending needed to complete in a short period of time and to be as automated as possible.

Why INOXPA? Why INOXPA?

The customer selected INOXPA for the service due to experience with these types of skids, and the capacity for designing and manufacturing them. The solution provides significant benefits given its large production capacity, the good quality blend it produces, and the low energy and maintenance costs. It is also notable for its hygienic design and sanitary finish in order to fulfil every food sector requirement.

INOXPA’s technical engineering department worked with the customer on the specific sizing for the structure where the skids would be installed, which is over 5 metres high.

Installation characteristics Installation characteristics

The skid is used to blend solids. These can be granulated products with powder or different density products. In this case, it will be used to blend raw materials for use in dietary supplement production.

The unit comprises a body inside which axial blending occurs. The drive motor sits inside one of the two side supports that hold the blender’s body. The motors are located at the bottom as both skids will operate symmetrically side-on.

The unit is fitted with an electric handrail with a safety device in accordance with EU safety regulations and it is ATEX Zone 22 certified.

Special features Special features

  • Large production capacity.
  • Automated skids.
  • 5 to 20 minute blending time.
  • Easy CIP or manual cleaning.
  • Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) conducted before delivery to verify the skids worked correctly.
